The Department of Probation and Child Care Services (DPCCS) commissioned the Centre for Development Research and Interventions (CDRI) to undertake a study in 7 districts to review child participation within the children’s council structure with the following objectives: To understand the nature, structure and scope of children’s engagement in the present model of children’s organizations introduced by the DPCCS and the effectiveness of the current model in enabling participation in all settings; To Identify the extent to which children with disabilities are able to participate in children’s clubs/councils and the necessary measures that need to be taken for them to meaningfully participatein children’s clubs/councils; To understand the knowledge, attitudes and socio-cultural beliefs of stakeholders, parents and children that determine child participation within the family, community, and services for children. Further, to understand the expected role of adults facilitators, especially the DPCCS, in their engagement with the children’s clubs/councils from the perspective of children.
